Meeting Wendy Moore, author of Endell Street
After months of planning curator of Dumfries Museum Judith Hewitt and I are in London and amongst an array of utterly astounding Dr Flora Murray things I get to over indulge myself in today, I get to meet the author of the incomparable Endell Street, Wendy Moore.
Wendy’s phenomenal research and illuminating writing brought to light the life and times of our Flora so magnificently, bringing her and Louisa’s story into all our worlds. I cannot tell you how brilliant it was to finally meet her, a fountain of all the knowledge on Flora, and in general on the queer lives of suffragettes. She had me enthralled, and left me with a parting gift that took a day or so to land… another queer suffragette with strong links to Dumfries & Galloway. Another queer heritage story to add to my journey into the realms of my queer Gallovidian ancestors has begun, and it’s beyond exciting. This story is going to set my world alight yet again… watch this space! I am obsessed
