Honouring Flora @ Dumfries’ Festival of Remembrance.

Another evening. Another unbelievable honour.

I was invited to deliver an Eulogy for oor Dr Flora Murray this evening at Dumfries’ Festival of Remembrance @ the Crichton Memorial Church.

There’s no way a year ago I would’ve thought I would be doing this.

What a privilege it is to share the endlessly inspiring story of this local unsung (until recently) hero with local veterans and their friends / families.

For The Dear Love Of Comrades is the opening line on Flora’s gravestone - her memory being shared amongst those she would’ve recognised as some of her comrades was a very very poignant and special experience.

Thank You so much for inviting me to speak The Royal British Legion, especially Tam Muirhead from the Veterans Garden, Dumfries.

The exhibition at Dumfries Museum may be closing, but the work continues...

Flora’s story was incredibly well received and exemplified the unifying force that is service for one’s country, and the marks it leaves on individuals, families and communities.

An extremely moving service, bringing home the sacrifice and dedication it takes to be part of a war effort, now and at any time in our history.

My these women were up against it, in the face of so much, they changed our worlds forever.

Keep Saying Her Name!
