A Musical Tribute to Dr Flora Murray

As the Centenary Anniversary of the passing of Dr Flora Murray approaches this Friday we hosted an Evening of Musical & Spoken Word Performance in Tribute to her Extraordinary life. Held amongst our exhibition on her life at Dumfries Museum, we co-produced an outstanding evening in partnership with Dumfries & Galloway Arts Festival, in her memory.

Local female queer Piper Lani O’Neill, Scots Poet Susi Briggs, local choir Cairn Chorus with songs of the suffragettes, and headlined by the incredible Rachel Walker & Aaron Jones., who all performed incredibly emotive and atmospheric pieces about and dedicated to Flora, and her remarkable life.

See link below of Rachel & Aaron’s stunning tune about Flora: Sunflowers, lyrics from which title their album Despite The Wind and Rain, each song on which celebrate unsung remarkable women in Scottish history.
